Welcome to my website!

No present without the past. Living in the present, you can learn from the past. During my PhD research at the University of Amsterdam, I studied the Dutch history in general and the life of Constantijn Huygens in particular. As part of this research I investigated seventeenth-century (hand-) writings, books and paintings.

During these years I have seen many beautiful objects from the past. I felt privileged to look into the history of these items and their possible meanings. As I would love to share the stories with others, I started to search for the pearls from history in daily life, next to my current work at the University of Twente.

I am constantly looking for old objects and I am particularly interested in furniture, lighting and other interior pieces. Furthermore I really enjoy researching paintings and other artifacts. I love to restore, clean and fix things, and consider it a real treasure hunt to identify styles and to place objects in a place and time. My goal is to safe beautiful objects for the future. They are made to last! History and sustainability are key.

As this website, you’ll find my portfolio. Clicking at the picture will lead to the story behind the object and to detailed pictures.  If you are interested in one of the objects, please contact me via the contact tab at the left hand menu.
